Workshops and Residencies
Lorna has presented more than 50 workshops and concerts in public schools, public libraries and community colleges
during the 2006 - 2007 school year. Her primary workshop for elementary and secondary students is "A History
of Folk Music," in which she explores the relationship between music, and history and culture, using writers such as
Bob Dylan and events such as the American civil rights movement as illustrations.
Additionally, Lorna offers more extensive residencies, such as the Lyric Writing residency she developed for a 5-day
public library residency.
For colleges, Lorna's most popular workshop is "Love 101: Rethinking Love, Sex and Power" in which she explores
abuse in dating relationships, challenges students toward critical thinking, and presents a "safety plan."
When this same program is presented for adult audiences, it is presented within the context of domestic violence awareness and prevention.
